Maqui Berry
Origins
Maqui (pronounced "mah-kee"), or Aristotelia chilensis, is an evergreen shrub native to the Patagonian rainforests of southern Chile and Argentina. At the end of spring, maqui plants grow purple-black berries and white flowers.
History
Mapuches are the only indigenous group that was able to overcome over 300 years of conquest attempts from the Incas and Spaniards. They're still standing to this day. According to legend, Mapuches got their mythical power, strength and resistance by drinking fermented maqui juice daily.
Nutrition
Mapuche people have also used maqui for centuries as medicine to treat ailments. Today, we know that maqui are rich in anthocyanins and polyphenols (antioxidants), which have tremendous health benefits. Maqui has the highest polyphenol content of any fruit, at least double that of açaí.
Juice
Inspiration
After looking for pure blueberry juice in stores, we found only artificially flavored and diluted options. So, we rolled up our sleeves and created Bberri ourselves: juice truly made from just blueberries.
Method
We handpick berries from our organic orchard and carry them straight to our on-site facility, where they are washed, squeezed, and bottled.
Result
Deliciously pure flavors and rich nutrients with no added sugar or anything else. Not even water. We use a growing variety of fruits.
Shots
Inspiration
Encouraged by the positive reception of our juice, we wanted to offer our customers an even higher-quality product. While many brands dilute juices with water, we went the opposite way and made a strengthened juice: the Bberri shot.
Method
After handpicking berries and squeezing them into juice, we use a filtering process to take out a part of the natural water content. That way, you get more of the good stuff in fewer gulps.
Result
A delicious wellness shot packed with energy and nutrients for your breakfast, created for your busy life.
Powder
Inspiration
For all you smoothie-lovers looking for your perfect recipe, we created Bberri powder to take your smoothie game to the next level.
Method
We use a freeze-drying process, which means that we freeze the berries and dry them by removing the water content. This helps preserve as much of the nutrients as possible. Then, we crush the dried berries into powder.
Result
Finely ground maqui powder perfect for smoothies, yogurts and bowls. With just a tablespoon, supercharge your daily blend with natural polyphenols, light texture, and a deep purple hue.
Capsules
Inspiration
For those wanting the fastest way to get a nourishing daily serving of berries, we created Bberri capsules.
Method
After freeze-drying and crushing organic maqui berries into powder, we fill up vegetarian capsules made from a Non-GMO plant-derived material.
Result
The absolute fastest way to get your daily share of polyphenols.
